What is AlphaDogs?

Terence Curren founded AlphaDogs in 2002 after decades of experience in editing and producing. He saw the technological trends in post-production and their effects on the traditional post-production business model, and decided that the time was right to strike off on his own. He gathered a team of like-minded professionals who agreed that with the falling costs of equipment and opportunity for producers to invest in their own post production systems, talent would be the deciding factor in the longevity of post-production service in the years to come. From this meeting was born AlphaDogs.

From its inception, AlphaDogs’ goal has been simple: Great post with a personal touch. AlphaDogs’ client list has grown rapidly as producers in television, cable, business and independent feature film continue to be impressed by the team’s combination of outstanding customer service and deep knowledge of post production technologies and workflows. Today, AlphaDogs has grown to a team of 10 post-production experts who are equally gifted in creativity and technical acumen — offering a wide range of graphics, sound- and video-editing services.

AlphaDogs has also led the industry in finding new editing methods that give clients the best finished product quickly and inexpensively. In 2003, the company introduced its Editors’ Lounge series, a hands-on seminar for industry professionals. Each month, dozens of professionals in the production and post-production industries exchange ideas, discuss trends and learn about new technologies; allowing editors to have their questions addressed objectively — without a sales pitch.

In 2004, AlphaDogs introduced a Digital Service Station™ division, which has completely changed the way the post industry operates. Digital Service Station gives independent producers a one-stop solution to importing and exporting material from tape to hard drive and back to tape — a competitive alternative to renting expensive decks or hiring assistants. Digital Service Station continues to expand and now offers its services in multiple locations across the United States, with more on the way.

AlphaDogs has been very busy examining industry trends and developments as HD continues to go mainstream. The company has carefully updated and expanded its systems to provide a wide range of expert HD services in editing, audio and graphic design. Successful completion of numerous HD movies, projects and TV series attest to AlphaDogs' commitment to matching clients' real-world needs with professional expertise. Not content to rest on its laurels, the AlphaDogs team continues to research the latest innovations and develop practical workflows to meet today's and tomorrow's post-production needs, including the emerging tapeless and 2K workflows.
