ALPHADOGS ADDS HIGH-DEFINITION EDIT BAY FEATURING AVID DS NITRIS® SYTEM; COMPLETES POST ON FEATURE FILM “GRADUATION NIGHT”

Post-production studio continues to offer the latest technologies to clients

AlphaDogs, Inc., a post-production studio focused on keeping clients “ahead of the pack,” htoday announced that it has completed post-production work on Graduation Night, a full-length feature film using the studio s newly added high-definition (HD) editing bay, enabling projects created in HD to be completed without downconverting to a lower-resolution format.

The new bay is equipped with Avid DS Nitris®, an advanced audio and video editing tool, which allows post-production professionals to create, edit and master TV programs, films and commercials in SD, HD as well as 2K/4K. In addition, the Avid DS Nitris system can accelerate even the most demanding production processes because of its increased processing power.

Graduation Night, the debut feature film by writer and director Alpesh Patel, was shot and delivered in HD. The film was edited offline in Apple’s Final Cut Pro™ at 30 frames per second (29.97) then converted to 24 frames per second (23.98) and edited in the DS Nitris system. “AlphaDogs’ new HD edit bay saved our project both time and money because the DS Nitris system automatically re-creates virtually every detail in HD for finishing,” said Patel.

AlphaDogs utilized the Automatic Duck plug-in to preserve the film s timelines and layers to and from Final Cut Pro. The post-production studio also handled the film s color correction, from film-out to straight video. Patel, who selected AlphaDogs to carry out the film s editing said that he “was very impressed with Terry Curren s technical knowledge. The studio s capacity to color-correct in different formats is extremely versatile.”

Graduation Night, a co-production of VisionStorm and Dream Merchant Pictures, is a coming-of-age comedy about four high school seniors on their graduation night. A theatrical release is tentatively scheduled for June 2005, pending distribution agreements.
