ALPHADOGS TO CREATE LOGOS AND OPENING TITLES FOR DISCOVERY CHANNEL REALITY SHOWS
Post-production studio lends creative, technical expertise to Discovery Channel’s “Southern Steel” and “Dry Dock” programs
June 7, 2005—Burbank, Calif.—
AlphaDogs, Inc., a post-production studio focused on keeping clients “ahead of the pack,” today announced that it has
completed graphics and editing for two Discovery Channel programs.
Russell Frazier, vice president of graphics technologies for AlphaDogs, created the opening titles for both Dry Dock and Southern Steel and designed graphics treatments used throughout the programs such as the lower third banners and credit beds
Filmed in the Bahamas, Dry Dock is a new program that documents a cruise ship makeover. The show’s producer, Rob Katz of Pilgrim Films & Television, Inc., and Frazier agreed that the show’s opening must accomplish three things: introduce the main characters, show the huge scope of the project and convey the urgency of having only 23 days to refurbish the enormous ship before its next cruise. Frazier used a split screen style reminiscent of 1960 s style graphics and updated it with floating panels of bright, tropical colors and music to evoke the show s Bahamas setting. To capture the relentless pace and variety of work done on the show, Frazier drew on animation utilizing Adobe® Illustrator® and After Effects®.
Southern Steel spotlights a Virginia-based company that creates custom motorcycles. Working in Mac OSX, Frazier used Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop® to develop the show’s logo and Avid® Symphony™ and Adobe After Effects for the majority of graphics and effects. AlphaDogs President Terrence Curren led online finishing
The Discovery Channel projects build on AlphaDogs’ extensive experience in television work. In the past, AlphaDogs has completed post-production work for numerous television programs, which have been aired on such networks as NBC, TBS and the WB Television Network.
“We continue to choose AlphaDogs for television editing because of the team”s creativity and talent, said Kathleen Burns Rohr, executive in charge of production for Pilgrim Films & Television “AlphaDogs remains our post studio of choice as we are always pleased with the outstanding quality of the final product,” Rohr added.
